What is the purpose of a load chart?

To train operators

To record maintenance intervals

To monitor fuel economy

To calculate the maximum weight and the lift angle for a given forklift

Understanding load charts is about safety and stable lifting. A load chart shows the maximum weight a specific forklift can lift under particular configurations—different load centers, fork heights, and mast positions. As the load center moves farther from the forks or the forks are raised, the forklift’s stability changes and the allowable weight decreases. The chart also reflects how mast tilt or lift angle affects capacity, so you can determine the safe maximum load and the corresponding lift setup for that forklift. Training, maintenance scheduling, and fuel-tracking are handled separately and aren’t determined by the load chart.
